Star

This was the Children's Sermon I had been planning for July 5. Before my accident. I would give each kid a white star. And I'd hold a star in each of my hands. Then I'd talk about each of us dreams about being a star. Be a Star-win the race. Be a Star-win the contest. Be a Star-everybody's cheering for me. But here's the thing about Stars. At least the Stars up in the sky. Each Star, at least each Star up in the sky, is very far apart from each other. Then I'd stretch out my arms so the Star in each of my hands is far apart. Each Star, at least each Star up in the sky, is very far apart from each other. Each Star is alone. And that's the kind of Star we can be. An Alone Star. But Stars can also work together. Here's what can be, when Stars work together. I'd bring out an American flag. See! Stars, working together, can make a country. Our country. The United States of America. Stars, working together, can make a Church. The Lord's United Church. Here, and all over the world. I can be a Star. An Alone Star. Or, I can be a Star working with other Stars. To make a united Church. To make a United States. God bless you! God bless America. We can be Stars working together, to make a United Church, and a United States!
