Yet Another Weekend Getaway-Part 5

Rest. Even under good conditions, I often have trouble sleeping. My sorta, kinda joke sometimes is, "Guess today, I'm gettin' up with Dolly!" I read somewhere that Dolly Parton gets up every day at 3 am. Me too, sometimes. Now I'm in a rehab facility. Part of being here is, I'm supposed to rest. Sleep is healing. Ya ever try to MAKE yourself sleep?! Good luck! Lately, I've been praying on our Gospel Bible reading for this Sunday. It includes that old favorite. Jesus says, "Come to me, you who are tired and loaded down, and I will give you rest." Great! But I'm still laying here awake, at 2 or 3 in the morning! Ahhhh!!! At one point, I texted my friend, Rick: "It's very frustrating, when I'm hoping to get good rest, to wake up at 3 am." My friend, Rick, is a man of real prayer and real faith. Rick texts back to me: "We ask for rest, and receive a test. Let us rest in Him." I ask for rest, and receive a test. The test is, What will I do now? I'm laying here, awake, in the middle of the night. What now? I could just lay here and feel frustrated. Another option is-Pray. Pray "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace......" Pray for Bill. As I limp along with a sore leg, Bill's here at rehab with only one leg. Pray for all the people, suffering in this terrible heat. "Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world, have mercy on us." I ask for rest, and receive a test. What now? When I can't sleep at 2 or 3 am, What now? I can Rest in Him, and pray.
