Yet Another Weekend Getaway-Part 6

"Easy" You ever see any of those old prison movies? "The Shawshank Redemption" "Escape From Alcatraz" In those old prison movies, the talk among the inmates is, "What're ya in for?" And "When are ya gettin' out?" There's the prison escape attempt. The "break out." And when somebody does get sprung, everybody's happy for them. While also being secretly jealous. Being in rehab is like being in prison. The talk among the inmates---I mean, residents--is "What're ya in for" and "When are ya gettin' out?" There's the escape attempt. Richard tried to "break out" Saturday night. Richard was caught. And today, I am getting sprung. Yes, the "independent physician" who's paid by the insurance company denied my appeal for more inpatient therapy. So, I'm being thrown out. I mean released. My Sweetie will take me home today. Even as she also worries I might fall and break something. Me, I'm praying, "Trust, trust, trust." Even though it's difficult and painful just to get into my Sweetie's car. That "independent physician" who's paid by the insurance company knows I'm ready to go home. Me, I'm not so sure. "Trust, trust, trust." Which brings me to "Easy." Easy is my second favoritest word. My first favoritest word is, Free. But that's a discussion for another day. Today, let's talk about my second favoritest word, Easy. To me, Easy means quick and painless. Putting my shirt on is Easy. Quick and painless. Getting a shoe on the foot of my sore, swollen leg is NOT Easy. OW! I did manage to push that shoe on, eventually, today. Yay! In our Gospel reading for tomorrow, Jesus uses my second favoritest word. Easy. He says, "my yoke is Easy." A yoke is a side-by-side harness. Think of the three-legged race at your picnic. Two people are tied together. Tied together, they gotta work together to get anywhere. So Jesus is saying being tied to Him is Easy. Great! I'm in! Quick and painless, right? Unfortunately, no. Here, Easy does not mean quick and painless. Easy here means, well-fitting. If you buy a pair of shoes, you want a good fit. When Jesus says Easy, He means He will provide me with a good fit. If I stay yoked to Him, He will provide what I need. I don't pretend to always understand how and when God is working in our everyday lives. The "independent physician" who's paid by the insurance company says I'm ready to go home. Me, I'm not so sure. Ready or not, here we go. Ready or not, the Lord will be with me. So, Dave the worrier will keep prayin' "Trust, trust, trust." Thank you for your prayers! They have helped us to keep going. Jesus is Easy. He knows what I need. He will provide what I need, IF I stay with Him.
