Immediately

That's how the Gospel reading for this Sunday starts off. "Immediately" Is Good News for Dave the procrastinator. "Later' is a dangerous word for me. "Later" can easily become never. A Bible verse that helps me in my battle with procrastination is 2 Corinthians 6:2. "See, now is the right time to meet God. Now is the day of salvation." Two weeks ago today, my Sweetie was taking me for my first outpatient therapy session. To get to the building, you have to first drive though the entrance to the Cancer Center. There's an ambulance unloading on the right. There's a wheelchair van unloading on the left. My Sweetie just stops. And waits. I'm thinking, "You could go around." The guy unloading the wheelchair van has gotten the woman in the wheelchair down. But now he's gotta put the foot rests on. I'm thinking, "You could go around!" My Sweetie just stops. And waits. I'm thinking, "You could go around!!!" My Sweetie just stops. And waits. Finally, finally, the guy wheels the woman in the wheelchair over to the entrance. Finally, finally, my Sweetie goes to our entrance. A guy pulls up next to her. "You showed a lot of class. Waiting for that woman in the wheelchair to get across. The world needs more of that" Amen! My Sweetie has shown a classy patience. Her husband, not so much. When is the time for Dave, to pray for more patience? "Immediately." When is the time, for Dave to slow down? So he doesn't outrun God, and act rudely to a woman in a wheelchair? Immediately. Slow me down, Lord. Immediately.
