The Good Old Days

About half of Americans say they wished they had lived in an earlier time. Back then was better. I get it. I like trains. I used to wish I lived back when trains were big . Trains everywhere! Those were The Good Old Days! Then, our son was thrashing around on the floor at 4:30 one morning. Out of nowhere, a major seizure. Call the ambulance and hurry to the hospital. They did a CT Scan. The CT scan showed a tumor in his brain. They were able to do surgery and remove the tumor. I sure was thankful they were able to do that CT Scan. No longer did I wish I lived in The Good Old Days. In The Good Old Days, they might never been able to find out what the problem was. Here's a bit of Bible trivia. What's the only book of the Bible that never mentions God? Esther. It's not that God isn't there. It's not that God isn't working. It's just that God is never mentioned. Sounds like our time! But God is there. Unmentioned. God is working. Unmentioned. When I find myself looking back for the Good Old Days. I think of Esther 4:14. "Maybe you are here for just such a time as this." Maybe I'm meant to be here, now. Maybe you are meant to be here, now. I don't pretend to understand The Big Plan. But I can pray for The Next Right Thing. Yes, I will keep looking back from time to time. But God has given me NOW. Let me seek to seek God NOW.
