Impossible

During World War 2, Sergeant Nicholas Alkemade was in an English bomber flying high over Germany. 18,000 feet high! His plane had been hit. It was on fire. Because of the fire, Sergeant Alkemade couldn't get to his parachute. He had a choice. Stay in the plane, and be burned to death. Or, jump out of the plane, flying three and a half miles up in the air. Be killed by the fall. What would you do? Sergeant Alkemade chose to jump. He passed out while dropping through the cold and the dark at 120 miles an hour. Later, he woke up. Yes! He woke up! He was laying in the snow. Pine tree branches had slowed him down. Deep snow had cushioned his fall. After jumping 3 1/2 miles without a parachute, all he had was a twisted knee. When the Germans captured Sergeant Alkemade, nobody believed his story. Nobody! Jump out of a plane 18,000 feet up in the air, and all you get is a twisted knee?!?! Impossible! Nobody believed Sergeant Alkemade. Until they found his crashed bomber. And his parachute inside. Impossible. Last week, Jesus fed thousands of people with only five loaves of bread and two dried fish. And there were leftovers. Get the Tupperware out! Impossible. This week, Jesus comes to the disciples, They're caught in a boat in a terrible storm. He comes to them, walking over the water, walking over the storm. Impossible. Frankly, I am glad Jesus is Impossible. Because I am an Impossible person. I want to grow, without having to change. Impossible. I want the blessings of faith, without the sacrifices of faith. Impossible. I want the Lord of LOVE, to serve my narrowness and my impatience. Impossible. I am thankful Jesus is Impossible. Because I am an Impossible person.
