"Ready?"

Right before we were going to sing the Anthem in church Sunday, Paige our wonderful musician asks, "Ready?" This reminded me of Dwayne. Before he went to Heaven, Dwayne would help lead worship at St. John's. Right before we were going in to begin church, Dwayne would ask, "Ready?" My answer usually was, "No. But it's time." See, when somebody says, "Ready?" what I hear is, "Do you FEEL Ready?" I'm good at feeling I'm not good enough. That means, I usually don't FEEL Ready. "Could I go hide in the Men's Room? Please?" I know. This is America. Everybody's busy. Put on a happy face, pretend to be fine. Everybody's afraid to admit they're afraid. Admitting you are afraid is weak. I guess I'm weak. Or, maybe, human? There are many times when I fear I won't be good enough. I don't FEEL ready. What helps me sometimes is to think of Hebrews 4:16: "Let us then with confidence come close to God's throne of grace." God's Grace helps me let go of my fear I won't be good enuf. A little. As my friend puts it: Let go. Trust God. Expect to be amazed. The more I can let go of my fear of not being good enuf, the better things go. "Course, the hard part is actually letting go, in the situation. Like Sunday mornings, when I'm up at the plate. The more I can let go of my fear of not being good enuf, the better things go. In the here and now. I don't feel Ready for today. The fear of not being good enuf is still there.

Let go. Trust God. Expect to be amazed.
