On Tuesday night, it rained really, really hard. Wednesday morning, I looked out front. There was a BIG branch. Laying on the front lawn. This branch was 2-3 times bigger than the stick that gave me my Fabulous Femur Fracture back in June. Okay, what now? This BIG branch ain't gonna go away on its own. Maybe I'll limp out with my walker. Try to break that branch with my right leg. My good leg. That way, I could get matching Fabulous Femur Fractures! One on the left. One on the right. If I did manage to fracture the femur in my good leg, at least I wouldn't have to go to the hospital. My Sweetie would kill me. Okay, what now? That BIG branch ain't gonna go away on its own. Wednesday morning, a friend picked me up to give me a ride to a church meeting. (Thank you, Todd!) When he brought me back that afternoon, he joked, "You're not going to try to break that stick, are you?!" I was tempted. But I decided to behave myself. We'll figure out something. Later that afternoon, Sweetie came home. I looked out front. The BIG stick wasn't there. Did she move it to under the evergreen tree? No. It's not there either. Somebody stole our stick! Theft! Somebody stole our stick! Thank you, whoever you may be! This Theft at our house brings two lessons. One, Dave the over-doer does NOT have to do everything! I had said, "This BIG stick ain't gonna go away on its own." And I was wrong. Dave the over-doer does NOT have to do everything. The other lesson is, there are still good people in the world. We hear much bad news, and it's pretty overwhelming sometimes. But there are still good people in the world, like our Neighborhood Stick Thief. Thank you, whoever you are!
