Work Light

When Dad passed, I got his Work Light. Man, is it bright!! The stand is adjustable. You can put the Work Light high or low. The Work Light holder is adjustable. You can put the Work Light at a certain angle. The height and the angle of the Work Light are both adjustable. That's so you can get direct light on your project. . If you've ever tried to plug in a plug in a dark room, you know what a difference light means! We don't even think of light. The videos on YouTube that lie to you, I mean, that tell you everything is easy.... Those videos never start with, "Get yourself a Work Light!" But what a difference Light makes! People inside and outside churches, we don't spend a lot of time praying. That's because we think of prayer as the God Gimme List. God, "Gimme good weather for my Labor Day Picnic. Gimme what I have already decided is best! Gimme this person different. (Cuz it sure couldn't be me who's the one who needs to change!) What if, instead of telling God what to do, I thought of prayer as a Work Light? Instead of praying, "Change the weather. Change the circumstances. Change them," What if instead I prayed, "Bring Your Light here." I have a friend, She was on one side of a conflict in her church council. You know how it is. Whoever's on the other side is stupid, or evil, or both. On the night of the council showdown, she showed up early. She wanted to pray in the worship area. There, in the worship area, was somebody else praying. Somebody from the other side. The other side, that's stupid, or evil, or both. Seeing her "enemy" there, praying, helped my friend see the situation in a different Light. God's Light. We may disagree. We will disagree. And God is OVER us all. So, I'm gonna keep telling God what to do. I'm gonna keep telling God how OTHER people need to change. But, maybe, once in a while, for a few seconds, I'll try to think of prayer as a Work Light. "God, bring Your Light here. How do You see this?" Maybe the answer to my prayers is to see in a different Light. God's Light.
